(...) aber dann waren die Tracks Popsongs, vlt. ein bisschen an die Lieder erinnernd, die er mit der Band Ilse Lau zusammen gemacht hat. Denn die Songs auf der Platte haben einen Anfang und ein Ende und zwischendrin passiert was. Und das auf sehr angenehme aber auch spannende Weise. Auch weil die Tracks so abwechslungsreich sind. Hat man Zehn Zens gehört, weiß man trotzdem nicht, wie Jean Cocteau klingen wird. Beide Songs ganz toll aber auch A to Z. Naja, kann man hier oben selbst hören. Und sagt nicht, ich hätte nicht recht. Ach so toll kann deutsches No Wave sein und alles passt so schön zusammen, trotz der Unterschiedlichkeit.

They Found My Body By The River beginnt mit glockigem
Gong-Klingklang, dem mit 'The sun is shining' eine rockig repetierte Wetterdurchsage aus Kindermund folgt. 'A to Z to you' übt ein ABC, bei dem D für desperate steht, H für heretic, P für poverty, R für revolution und W für wrong. This doesn't mean anything, but this song is made for You. Dem folgt mit 'Jean Cocteau' ein Gedicht dieser schillernden Gestalt, a capella mit verzerrter Stimme. Auf einem Blechdeckel wird 'Chicita' geklopft und knurrig durchpulst. Eine unechte Posaune betutet und ein Synthiebass beunkt Zeilen wie: Im Ha fen roch es nach dem Fleisch der Menschenmassen, die stakkatohaft hervorgestoßenen Lyrics von 'Die Erde', einem weiteren Cocteau-Gedicht. 'Auf dem Wall von Bremen' ist scheinbar eine Reminiszenz an Wilkens alte Heimat. Wieder klingt die Sprechstimme ver zerrt, die nun 'Ängste' von Max Jacob rezitiert. Pfeifen, Dingdong, Besenwischer geloopt. Nur dass Bremen Edinburgh ersetzt in Jacobs Gedicht: Auf dem Wall von [Bremen] / da vermählt sich soviel Schmerz / heute abend / mit so vieler Liebe / daß davon Poesie dein Pferd / einen schwarzen Schleier... Hinter diesen Worten eines konvertierten Juden, der 1944 im Nazi-Lager Drancy umkam, tun sich Abgründe auf, die selbst der simplen Fest stellung, dass die Sonne scheint, einen bitteren Beigeschmack geben.
